October, 2009: Where we sit Time sure does fly and it looks like we are ready for the winter. We've had a busy fall with the completion of our final field campaign up at Imnavait Creek. Chris, Matthew and Art spent a long week of running the LiDAR over the basin. On day one the weather was pretty nasty and wet, but by evening the sun cleared, and the LiDAR marathon began. We couldn't have asked for better weather. Below are some images from the campaign. It appears that all of our equipment is up and running. Steph is preparing for a quick trip to Barrow to finish a few minor repairs to the wind sensors and to make a final check before winter really sets in. A third SWE sensor will be installed at Inuvik, NT Canada near the end of the month. We're pretty excited that our network is expanding into another region. We're looking forward to a much quieter winter with emphasis on much needed data crunching and analysis. Images from the Imnavait webcam will be made into short movies and will be posted soon. We're also now on FaceBook. We're not sure where we'll head with this, but it is hoped that we can broaden our outreach and get more of our SnowNet members to post images, discussions, interesting facts, etc on a more timely basis.
